Obstructed mountain view, severe construction noise, and agreed compensation not honoured
The “Mountain View” room we booked was positioned directly in front of an active construction site, with machinery (excavators), a crane and site offices dominating the outlook, resulting in a heavily obstructed view.
Construction noise ran from approximately 7am to 7:30pm each day, with excavators and heavy equipment operating directly outside the window. The ground-floor location (advertised as first-floor) also meant no privacy, with workers passing by constantly, forcing the curtains to remain closed and removing natural light.
Overall, the experience did not reflect what was booked; the reception staff lied about compensation during the stay, and it was handled in a way that fell well below expectations.
Once the 'Building 3' in the hotel development is complete, the 'Mountain View' apartments will have no view and look straight onto the back of the new block.
I would advise to;
A) not book the 'Mountain View' side of Trysil Apline Lodge and,
B) wait for construction to be complete (which could be years, considering it has recently started with excavation at the time of writing this review).
I would not recommend booking here.

Building site and not what we expected
Firstly…
We were a family of 3 adults and 3 young children. The apartment we were given was not what we were expecting as it had two double bedrooms and a very small single bedroom but this single room had no window and was painted black. No one wanted to sleep in there. There were two bunks folded into the wall in the double bedded room and we had to use these and one adult had to share the double bedded room with a child, and with the foldaway bunks, 4 in one room was not comfortable. There was no wardrobe for any clothes, just 4 hooks.
We had to make up our own bunk beds, and were only given one pillow case.
We were very late to get our room, and they said we would be compensated….we are waiting to hear.
Then just before 7am on Monday 16th February, we were woken by 3 digger lorries and a huge power drill, which was drilling the rock face. We went downstairs to complain but the young lad just gave us the card to complain to head office and continued reading his book. This went on every day 7am until after 6 pm. Reception said it was only until Thursday, but this was not true and each of the 3 families have video footage about this absolute horrendous noise every day. Friday was supposed to be a quiet day, but work continued and the noise continued.
I would not recommend these apartments to anyone.
I will put some videos on this page later.

Construction starts most days promptly at 06:00 AM — because nothing complements alpine serenity like the gentle symphony of heavy machinery and controlled blasting. If you’ve ever dreamed of combining skiing with an internship at Caterpillar, this is your moment.
To be fair: expansion is understandable. Resorts grow. Investments are good. But when your “mountain view” includes active earth-moving operations directly outside your window — and this wasn’t disclosed clearly before arrival — it does shift the overall experience from “cozy alpine lodge” to “industrial awakening.”
Relocating wasn’t realistic once ski passes, rentals, and travel were locked in. So we adapted. Coffee tastes different when accompanied by geological rearrangement.
I’m sure the lodge will be fantastic once the dust settles — literally. Until then, future guests may want to confirm whether they’re booking a ski holiday or a live demo of large-scale infrastructure development.
Great skiing. Memorable mornings.
