RUDE BEHAVIOUR /BAD EXPERIENCE IN MUNNAR

EMERALD , Munnar (Luminous group of hotel)-(15/05/2026)
We stayed here as a couple and had a very disappointing experience.
1.)The room given to us was very small and completely different from the pictures shown on the website.
2)The photos were misleading. When we asked about the room difference, staff said we had to pay extra for a better room.
3)There was a very bad smell outside near the garden area, possibly from rats or waste, and the smell came inside when opening the window.
4)The bathroom smell was the worst and it did not seem properly cleaned. We even had to request bleach/cleaning liquid to clean it.
5)There was no AC and no fan, making the room uncomfortable. We also experienced a lot of noise from kids and other families outside the room.
6)The receptionist attitude is very bad, she is shouting and very misbehaving attitude
7) the police said `some illegal` activities contains in this hotel (Sex & Drugs)
Very disappointing experience – would not recommend.
In our experience, the staff behavior was very unprofessional, especially the lady at the reception, who spoke to us in a disrespectful and aggressive manner. We felt shouted at rather than listened to, and we did not receive basic respect as guests. A staff member named Sai and a man who introduced himself as the owner, Ajmal, also handled our concerns poorly.
We were unhappy with the room as it was very different from the pictures shown online, small, had bad smells, and cleanliness issues. We initially wanted to leave, but were encouraged to stay for the night with assurance that refund options would be discussed in the morning if we remained dissatisfied. The next morning, things changed, our concerns were dismissed, and we felt misled.
The experience became so stressful that we felt the need to make a complaint to Munnar police. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this hotel

Horrible

Very disappointing experience. We paid around ₹9,500 for 2 nights and were given a “Standard Basement Room” located 3 basement levels below the hotel. No AC, no fan, no ventilation, no window, bad smell, and a drain behind the room. The room felt extremely suffocating. No reasonable guest would imagine that a hotel room could be located this far underground when making a booking.
Even the so-called Deluxe Rooms were located in the basement (around one basement level down), while our room was three basement levels below. The lift didn’t even reach our room level. When we asked for a better room, we were asked to pay ₹5,000 extra per day. Even after we expressed our dissatisfaction, the hotel was not willing to cancel the booking or adjust the remaining one night’s amount.
The basement location and actual condition of the room were not made clear during booking. Felt completely misled and would not recommend this hotel.

Very baddddddddddddddd experienceeeeeeeeeeee

Extremely disappointing experience. The hotel is an old building disguised by renovating only the front portion to attract customers. The surroundings were filthy, with garbage everywhere and a constant drainage smell that made the place unbearable. The entire area looked slum-like and poorly maintained.
The room was in terrible condition — no proper facilities, no hot water, no fan, old and stinking interiors, and age-old unhygienic bathrooms. The bedding looked like it had already been used for days without being changed. Definitely not worth the ₹4,000 charged for a single room.
I could not even stay there for more than 20 minutes and immediately left the property. Despite this, they refused to return my money. It feels like first-time customers are being trapped through misleading appearances and false promises.
Please avoid this place. You can find much better hotels slightly away from the town area with spacious rooms, proper ventilation, scenic views, cleanliness, and genuine hospitality.

Baddddddddddddd and worstttttttttttttttttttttttt

Very bad experience. The hotel may look decent from the front, but inside it is an old building with poor maintenance and a terrible drainage smell. Garbage all around the property and the surroundings felt dirty and unsafe.
The room was not worth ₹4,000 at all. No hot water, no proper facilities, old bathrooms, poor ventilation, and a strong old-stink smell throughout the room. The bedding looked unclean, as if already used by previous guests.
I left within 20 minutes because the stay was unbearable, but they still refused to refund the money. Feels like they are trapping first-time customers with misleading appearances.
Please avoid this place. Better hotels with spacious rooms, scenic views, cleanliness, and proper hospitality are available a little away from the town area.

The day we went, we saw the sheets had been changed months ago. They were not fresh. Bathroom had a leaky faucet. Tv and room phone were not working. Above all the room was nothing like the pictures. Looks like they took the pictures when the hotel was new. It looks 50 years older now.
