It would take very little...
Officially it is a 4 star hotel but is managed with little care. It would take very little to change the feeling of the guests. The rooms are dated and could use a refresh, they are not bad, but need some minor maintenance (closet handles, shower cubicles, a coat of white...). Common spaces, too, would need maintenance often of little importance, such as carpets at the exit of the elevator, elevator carpet, corridor carpet, a coat of white.
These are all trivial measures that, however, testify to the poor care with which it is managed.
The breakfast instead is just sad, even in this case you can see that it is prepared without any care. In the end it is not bad either and it would take very little to make it much more pleasant. There is tea and almost never sliced lemon (I stayed more than once and sometimes I found it), there is no cold milk at the buffet, the arrangement is just vetched style.
It 'a shame because well managed would also be a nice structure.

terrible experience
Once I made the reservation on booking, I called them to find out the time by which I could check in, but in response I was told that the hotel was overbooked and not to show up, as there were no rooms. free for my stay, and to proceed with the refund request.
In the following days, upon my request for a refund, I was told that it was not true that the hotel was overbooked, and that I could stay in their facility.
Despite my requests, I never received any refund from them.
In all of this, the same evening I booked a second hotel 20 km from Bologna, spending more money not on the hotel but also on the taxi.
Now either I'm crazy or I'm not paying for two hotels in the same night.
This was my experience, then I leave it up to you to decide whether to stay in this hotel or not.
