Delightful place

It was a great stay everything was there. Lovely place with nice garden and , pool. When we wanted to book an extra night that was not possible because our apartment was already rented out but they came up with another option so we could still stay. Another apartment and separate room. Fantastic, very nice people.

Perfect first stop in Spain

Deborah and I have been wanting to do our European Tour for many years. Having belted through France, crossed the Pyrenees, we arrived in the most beautiful part of Spain we've ever seen. The mountainous region of Corzola is a must if you're travelling through or staying on. Surrounded by olive groves as far as you can see , the old farm house has been tastefully converted by Roger & Di Birch with very flexible accomodation with adjoining door for those needing more than one room.
Di & Roger have created a very homely atmosphere with their dogs and pretty gardens beckoning you to the cooling pool and sun terraces overlooking the mountains and stunning sunsets.
The small town of Corzola is classic old Spain with a stunning Castle perched above, and vibrant squares with cafés and tapas bars to enjoy.
A short drive through town takes you to the top of the mountain at 1300 metres where we enjoyed a picnic overlooking the majestic vultures soaring around us. A birdwatchers paradise with wild flowers and pink peonies too.
We thoroughly recommend this homely retreat and look forward to our return.

Delightful Paradise in the centre of the beautiful natural park

Well catered for self contained accommodation with delightful garden and shade and a lovely refreshing pool for cooling off. We stayed in the larger accommodation and there was everything we could wish for from coffee to washing machine - plenty of room for everyone and each bedroom had its own bathroom, so great for the family. We were staying for a family event in the town and this was perfect for our needs. Great hosts, we were due to arrive late in the evening and they kindly gathered provisions for our visit (including two lovely bottles of wine) so we landed and were able to cater for ourselves immediately (there is also an excellent supermercado just down the road). Added bonus for us was the dogs on site, we miss our dogs when away so it was nice to have their company! Would not hesitate to recommend and return. Carzola is only a few minutes away and this is also right on the doorstep of the natural park which is stunning

All you could want and more

Your hosts have created the perfect place for your holiday home. With a choice of accommodation to suit most needs; each apartment has access to the restful gardens where one can unwind and shed the cares of life. There is a swimming pool and an area for sunbathing. Excellent for a relaxing stay, away from it all, yet all and more is still within easy reach, even an excellent supermarket (Mercadona) is a mere 4½ km away.
The Natural Park of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y las Villas is on the doorstep where all the delights of nature, wildlife, scenery and more are at hand. One can see how mountains were formed and are still being sculpted by erosion and by man. One can see vultures circling over your head as in the cartoons of the man lost in the desert, yet not be worried. At the Centro de Interpretación de Madera at Vadillo Castril, one can see how and why this area was created a “maritime province” so far from the sea, followed, in more recent times, by how it facilitated the development of the railways in Spain. Visit the birthplace of the great Rio Guadalquivir and many other "secret" places in the areas not open to the general public by taking one of the 4x4 guided tours. In the courtyard of the castle of Segura de Sierra there are various displays of how life used to be and how they coped in olden times, followed by lunch in the village, itself. There are many other interesting villages to explore, all within easy reach.
Yet, as if this were not enough, one is close to two UNESCO World Heritage sites, Baeza and Úbeda both full of history. A little farther away, to the south, in Guadix and its surrounds, one is into Troglodyte country, where houses are carved into the soft clay (which then hardens into a rock-like substance,) to give homes that are cool in summer but warm in winter. To the North there is more to interest one with the Natural Park de Despeñaperros (where they throw dogs) reputed to be where the Christians threw the bodies of the Moors following the battle at Navas de Toloso. The old road that passes through the defile offers some stunning scenery, now without the traffic since the opening of the new road.
There are also several more Natural Parks within easy reach, the Sierra Mágina and the Sierra de Andujar to the west and the northwest respectively, then crossing over into Granada province to the southeast, there are the Sierra de Castril which adjoins the Natural Park of Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas and the Sierra de Baza. There is much, much more to see and to do, all you need is the time. In a couple of months we will be staying there again and are very much looking forward to it.

A fantastic find!

We had such a fantastic holiday at Los Abedules this summer. The apartment was cosy, comfortable and had plenty of room. It was so well equipped it really was like a home away from home. Everything we could have needed was there and the hosts were so obliging and helpful if we needed anything else. The use of the washing machine a real plus with the children!
My children are tiny - two under two - so the position of the pool made it feel very safe as it is pretty much enclosed in its own area. It is a stunning pool and the terrace is perfect for relaxing and the gardens provided some welcome shade for breakfast.
In fact, we were so happy at the apartment we almost forgot to visit Cazorla! But of course we couldn't miss out on the famous tapas and Spanish traditional nightlife and made a few excursions to see some of the town and really should have made more as its a wonderful place but we were so happy in the Cortijo that we'll put that on ice for the next trip!
Thanks to the Birches so much for such a wonderful holiday and being the hosts with the most....We'll be back!
