Highly recommended. Both the hostel and the restaurant

We have been there for 4 days and the experience has been unbeatable. The hostel is in the very center of Torla and, although without luxuries, it has everything you need. Clean rooms, as well as bathrooms and showers. Comfortable beds. They provide you with a fitted sheet, pillowcase and blankets. Just carrying a blanket bag is fine.
In the restaurant we had a royal dinner. A varied menu with homemade dishes, all delicious.
But without a doubt the best of all has been the attention of the owners. Both Jorge and his wife are charming, and so is his son, who served us at dinner. As one of my colleagues said, "like we were family."
We will be back.

Perfect and simple

We went to the Refugio for 4 days in Summer for our hiking trip, we stayed in a single room with own bathroom which was just perfect!
The bed was very comfortable, there is a little commune kitchen you can use for simple sandwich making or breakfast.
We had all we needed, it is simple but very clean and the owner is friendly. The location is very practical, because the bus station for some of the hikes is just 5 min away, you can find all restaurants etc in the small town.

Loved it! One of the highlights of our trip

We stayed out of season and were probably the only guests but the owners went to a lot of trouble and made us feel very welcome. We particularly enjoyed sitting in the bar in the evening, enjoying great home made food and mixing with the locals. We felt like travellers, not tourists. The owners gave us good tips on what to visit and how to enjoy the National Park. The room was comfortable and very well heated, and we like having the two bunk beds where you can sleep on the top and store your belongings on the one below. It is right in the centre of the charming town, close to the little church, alongside a supermarket, and most importantly right on the edge of the National Park.

A great base for the Spanish Pyrenees

A friend and I decided to get away from London and its crowds for 10 days and after a lot of research we started our journey to the Aragonese Pyrenees. Our base was to be Torla, a magic medieval and almost phantasmagoric town during the boreal winter. I had made some phone calls the week before departing, but after arriving to a stone town and walking for several minutes through its deserted alleys we started to worry. We finally found a lady near the town hall and it was here where the real experience started.
This lady happened to be part of the family that owns Refugio Lucien Briet and coincidentially it was her who picked up the phone when I called the week before. We were taken to the Bar La Brech, that is part of the whole property and after taking our names and details, a gentleman (the lady's son) took us to our room. At this time of the year, Torla and Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park are almost empty with few locals and some adventurous travelers (like us!) around.
Due to us being the only guests, we were allow to take any room we wanted, additionally we were offer a daily breakfast for a really reasonable price and the gentleman gave us a comprehensive introduction to the town and all it has to offer.
Lucien Briet was clean, tranquil and cosy. All the facilities (showers, toilets, heating...) were fully functional and being in the heart of Torla makes it a perfect base for day walks aroud this beautiful region of Spain. If planning a visit to the Pyrenees, look no further, visit Torla, stay at Refugio Lucien Briet and enjoy its ambient and hospitality and don't dare going back to your home town without trying the home made Pacharan and Aguardiente (litterally, burning water!). Totally worth it!!

Fantastic and charming hotel / Refugio

Located right in the heart of the old village, this is a hotel, Refugio, bar and restaurant.
The staff, the owners family did everything tonmake us cfortablecand at home. We arrived without a reservation and they found us a suitable room. The rooms are simple and private and there is also
A Refugio with bunks in shared rooms.
We are vegetarian (a challenge in Spain) and they really went out of their way to find good alternatives since we were eating there for breakfast and supper. The food was some of the best at Refugio and small hotels of our Pyrenees stay.
Definitely would recommend it to hikers and travelers looking for a small simple friendly family style accommodation.
