Highly recommended

We received the short trip as a gift and were delighted.
The old mansion has been restored with incredible love, both the common areas and the rooms.
The spa also leaves nothing to be desired and invites you to relax.
Breakfast, too. There was felt nothing there was not, from various salads, coffees to sparkling wine everything was there. The very nice and attentive service at breakfast is particularly noteworthy. We felt very welcome.

Quite ok, but nothing special

Our journey was by DB to Schwerin. From there we had to take a taxi for the hotel about 20 km away. You have to expect just under €55 each way (it will be more expensive from 2026). Uber is displayed to you, but we were never given a ride at any time. Alternatively, you can probably take the train to Crivitz and then the call bus, but that was too complicated for us.
We stayed here two nights in the Royale Suite in the Tower House and had a pleasant stay. The room was more like a junior suite with 44 sqm. Unfortunately, many outlets and light switches did not work, but it was clean and tidy. There was a small Nespresso machine with a few capsules and a 0.5 l bottle of water. A blanket and two bowls were also provided for the four-legged companion, along with treats.
The spa & wellness area was quite nice but unfortunately totally crowded. In addition, children are not allowed in the sauna. Merely in the panoramic sauna, but this was under construction, a pity. The pool was very small at 12 m x 5 m and was only enough to cool off, the swimming was rather tedious fun. In addition, there was a good selection of massages, they we also tried. Here you have to expect about €100 per hour, which is normal in the middle. This was also very pleasant.
In the restaurant you could have breakfast, lunch & dinner. Unfortunately, there were no alternatives here. We had already booked breakfast and dinner the 3-course meal in advance. For dinner there is 54 € p. P. on. As an omnivore this may be a good deal, as a vegetarian/vegan definitely not. There was 1. Have a little salad when you're 2. Aisle two small celery chips on tomato ragout and for dessert a 4 cm x 5 cm small tiramisu. Therefore, you had to order something extra at your own expense to get full, too bad. There was a children's menu with a small menu selection and dessert, sufficient as I find. We did not enjoy alcoholic drinks, just a bottle of water and a table drink p. P. For this we paid for two adults and one child in one evening just over 150 €. The second evening cost €145. For the money you definitely get better alternatives elsewhere.
The breakfast was neat but adequately designed. There was a “standard” selection of a pastry and topping, plus some comrade and fruit. The drinks were a little better, but not a highlight either.
For lunch, we have the same menu as for dinner. In it you will find about 3 starters, 2 soups, 2 veg. dishes, 5 meat dishes and 3 desserts. In addition, there are sometimes extra dishes for the 3-course version. There is a lot more choice in the drinks.
The staff at the restaurant were very dedicated and accommodating at all times, including when choosing food. As some other travellers reported, trainees were mostly employed here, accompanied by at least one experienced service person. Therefore, you should also bring some forbearance and patience.
Located on a small lake and the forest is also not far away. Ideal for smaller walks. Otherwise, there are not many alternatives. You should know this beforehand, especially if you are not travelling by car.
The conclusion is rather sobering for us. For just under 1500 € for two nights including arrival and departure and meals you will definitely get more and better elsewhere. Nevertheless, we had two relaxing days and were able to gain new experiences.

Charming castle hotel with lots of potential

I gave away 2 nights for my birthday. Why is it asked for fellow passengers before arrival if there is no roll call greeting on arrival? For example in the room with a card.
The reception staff is doing their job ... nothing more.
Room 108 is located in the castle above the free staircase from where you have a beautiful view of the small castle garden from a large balcony.
Unfortunately, there is no Nespresso Machine or the possibility to make a tea. No minibar.
The bathroom is very old and it urgently needs a new shower door installed. Any housewife better get rid of the limestone edges on the sink. The bathtub was dirty and the toilet goggles had a jump. Definitely not a 4 star standard!
My reference to the condition of the bathroom was noted at the reception... “will be passed on”. No excuses!
If you live in the castle, you have to walk to the new building for breakfast. The question of a wardrobe was answered in the restaurant in such a way that you should simply put the jacket on the chair next to you. The wardrobe was too far away... if I had, I should probably have taken my jacket away myself.
In the restaurant, which is also used for breakfast, plastic flowers are on the tables! The waitress couldn't tell which game the dish is from on the small and certainly overpriced menu. Main courses almost all over 30€ . Taste OK, but not outstanding.
Shortly before 9 p.m., relatively rigorous attention was paid to the
Side tables cleared and set for breakfast.
The wellness area is great, where we only visited the swimming pool and sauna. The infusion was great. There are Aquafit classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays where hotel guests can join for free. Unfortunately, a rather listless coach.
The large fireplace in the swimming pool could also be turned on to create some atmosphere in October.
The bar in the castle is cosy and invites you to linger. A younger bartender was more attentive and witty as host than an older gentleman the night before.
All in all, it was a nice little break, in a somewhat ramshackle castle ambience and many opportunities to prepare the guests' stay even more beautifully. Recommendation: invest in staff and as a boss do a check-up through bathrooms.

pay attention to charging station (theft)

end of April we stayed in the beautiful Schloss hotel Basthorst. Fine stay however after returning home turned out to have cost 40 KwH charging my car € 160,=. Complained to the hotel but they don't give home. The pole is operated by 'We Mag' using last minute solutions software. No proactive warning by hotel (reception); I think this will cause a lot of frustration for customers.

We have had a great experience

Quiet area, relaxed atmosphere. Food very good, also rich fresh breakfast and spacious room. Very nice authentic environment and buildings. One minus, the bartender who runs the bar in the evening clearly didn't feel like it (other guests had to wait 'forever' too). Close to WinstonGolf, fantastically beautiful golf course.
