Basic but lovely

The hotel is very simple and basic. Don't count on amenities. The place could use some love, the rooms could use some work, and the wifi not great. But the grounds were pretty, the staff friendly, the beach beautiful, and the vibe so relaxed and easy that none of it seemed to matter. All the luxuries I thought I wanted, I didn't miss, and I was so sad to leave. We visited Mar y Oro, a higher end hotel that probably had nicer rooms. But our beach was quieter and more low key and if I had to choose again, I'd still go for Hotel Isla.

Catfished

Hotel needs to be demolished. Pool is empty. Decks are falling into the ocean. No food. No bar. Nothing to report. Place looked abandoned. Anything you have heard is false. It’s not operational. Do not go. You are better off camping than these accommodations. The Element is the place to go or anywhere else frankly in the island is better. Your welcome.

Don't trust the favourable reviews!

We didn't actually stay here because it's impossible to book a reservation (it's sold out every day of the year!). We did enjoy the beach though, it's a gorgeous location. Sadly the hotel is in a terrible state of disrepair and it appears that the owners don't care. In fact they don't even want people on the beach in front, even though it's public and they have no right to prevent people from enjoying it. There appear to be no guests in the hotel at all, in fact it looks completely abandoned. The beachfront bar/restaurant opens for a few hours a day but I've never seen anyone sitting in it. A Panamanian friend tried to buy a beer there and was told to go to the store instead. All very strange and sad because it really is an amazing location.

This Hotel is A SCAM

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.
It takes a lot for me to write a bad review. I myself am in customer service. But these people are AWFUL. There are plenty of other places to stay in Contadora, so do not waste your time here. I only booked here bc a friend was getting married. It took much effort just to Get a reservation in the first place. Nobody ever answered my emails, I made multiple phone calls and numerous WhatsApp messages. Finally I did reserve, but then was unable to go, so I cancelled Two Weeks in Advance. They still charged me, so I called back (again, repeatedly) they told me they did not have my cancellation, even tho I showed them my call log where I spoke to them. After much hassle, she said she would return a partial payment. Fine. (Also I could have gotten voucher) after she said I would be reimbursed, I sent my information, and then they never answered me again. They hung up on me over the phone and would not answer my WhatsApp or emails. Since I live in Panama, I would have take the voucher...but now am left with nothing but a more than $300 bill and nothing to show for it. On top of it all, I had many friends who attended the wedding and told me the whole event was unorganized, service was slow when available at all, and they had to pay staff from outside the hotel to come in and assist bc La Isla staff could not do their jobs properly. There way better options in Contadora, this place is a massive headache.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience of it. This happened 3 years ago.
From now on the hotel is taking a new policy, where we will try to make our guest's accommodation a great experience
