A good option for a short stay in Madrid

Overall, I liked my stay at this hotel. It is located in a lively central area of Madrid close to all major sights; everything is easily walkable, and I actually find the location perfect. The hotel itself is small but nicely designed and modern, and it was spotlessly clean throughout my entire stay. The hotel’s lobby is also tiny – the front desk is literally just a small table with one person working there. A cool part of the lobby’s concept is that there’s a cute little cafe right next to the hotel entrance, where anyone can buy drinks and pastries. In addition, on the first floor there is a separate restaurant area for hotel guests where some free snacks and drinks (like tea and coffee bags) are provided.
My check-in was fast and easy. One day before arrival, I requested early check-in around noon, and for just €10 they allowed it. I actually got into my room at 11:30 a.m., which was fantastic, since I didn’t lose a whole day in Madrid. Before arrival, I also requested a room on a higher floor with plenty of natural daylight, and this request was honored as well. All front desk staff were super nice, sweet, friendly, and helpful. I had small chats with them every day, and I really liked everyone there.
I stayed in a Standard Double Room (#407) on the 4th floor. The room was very tiny; honestly, it lacked space even for one person! But its design was pretty, so I still felt moderately comfortable. The room was spotlessly clean, and all furniture was in very good condition. Unfortunately, the room was not soundproof, which was my main issue. I could clearly hear noise from the hallway, and almost every morning I woke up to the sound of housekeeping vacuuming. Occasionally, I could also hear street noise if the window was open, but with the window closed it was fine. I really loved the Double Bed – it was extremely comfortable, especially the big, soft pillows. There was no traditional closet, but there was a large open clothing rack with a few hangers (more would be better), plus shelves underneath for clothes and shoes. The TV across from the bed was a good size. There wasn’t a traditional bathroom; instead, it was divided into separate sections: a shower area (large enough for a comfortable shower), a very small toilet section, and an open sink area with a mirror next to the clothing rack. I actually liked this concept, as it saved space. The bathroom amenities were good quality and had a pleasant citrus scent. I also appreciated the modern well-functioning hair dryer, the large soft high-quality towels, and the two complimentary bottles of water in the room. The Wi-Fi worked fast and reliably throughout my stay.
One more nice thing worth mentioning is that late check-out is possible for a small extra fee if the hotel is not busy. For example, I was able to stay in my room until 3:00 p.m., and I paid €20 for that, which was very convenient.
Probably the biggest downside of my stay was the price. I paid €130 per night, which I find very overpriced for such a basic hotel, especially for the tiny room I stayed in. In my opinion, a reasonable rate would be at least half of what I paid. However, to be fair, this was one of the cheapest options in Madrid’s city center for my dates, so there was likely a major event in town that affected prices and pushed them much higher than usual.
In conclusion, I can recommend this hotel for a short stay. The Standard Double Room is suitable for one person, but note that it would likely feel too small and uncomfortable for two people. I would consider staying at this hotel again in the future, especially if the price is lower.

To be avoided

The room is small, poor in detail.
Bathroom is bad with outside sink and side shower in an iron structure
All inside an iron cabinet worthy of a prison cell more than a hotel.
Bathroom without windows or ventilation.
Washbasin mirror light not connected and therefore not working.
Window on an interior wall and dirty balcony, full of bird dung.
There is not even an armchair in the reception.
Check in you have to do it yourself on their website upon arrival. You save the receptionist his job, who treats you nicely.

A convenient base to see the rest of central Madrid from. The accessible room was large enough and quieter being away from the rooms on the same floor. The view is just of the building. The bathroom is a large wet room, maybe could do with an extra handrail in the shower and tiles get a jet wash, but functional. Air conditioning was working and adjustable. There is a small step to get into the building, but whoever was on reception was quick to offer help and everyone was very hospitable throughout my stay. The area around Opera is flat with lots shops and bars/restaurants to easily access.

Great location!!! Great hotel. Rooms are small but all new and great bathroom. The check in process is very hard to do online and takes long time o finish. This is the only negative about the hotel

A DUMP

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I would not keep a dog in it. The rooms are small and look into a courtyard filled with airco units making an horrendous noise yet the hotel itself has no airco. The toilet did not flush. The shower did not work. There was orange and black mould growing in the shower. There were no toiletries, no fridge, no drawers, no kettle. The room was tiny. The lobby was an embarrassment. The breakfast buffet insubstantial. It is at best a one star hotel. Do NOT stay here. It is a RIP OFF.
