Outstanding - as always. Unique atmosphere, top service
Another fantastic stay at Sommerro. Great and pleasant service. The room was top, clean and neat, with lovely soap and lotion from Byredo. (Love the smell!) Lovely shower, good light which is automated and easy to operate.
Fantastic with all the offers they have at the hotel - many unique restaurants to choose from for a drink, lunch, or a very good dinner. I especially like the Expedition Hall.
Furthermore, the gym is top, and they have a lovely sauna attached to a rooftop pool.
Every single stay I've had has been memorable! And I've been to many hotels around the world. Always good to come here, and always a little sad to leave.

Excellent hotel in Oslo!
Very beautiful hotel, room was cozy and comfortable and the hotel has a privileged location. Staff is very attentive. Maria Edna at the roof top restaurant and Dunia at the main restaurant by the lobby were very friendly. Dinning experiences in both of their restaurants were delightful.

Lovely design, vibe, breakfast and room. One big downer was that I had cancelled our table at a nice restaurant and booked at the hotels restaurant instead, after getting an email that there would be jazz until 22.00. But when we came to eat there was no Jazz…

Lovely hotel
Beautiful restoration. An Art Deco paradise. Fantastic breakfast. Wonderful staff, esp in the bar/breakfast room. Worth having a swim just to see the mosaic and the red hot sauna. Pricey but worth it.

An Excellent Choice in Oslo
My wife and I spent three nights in a junior suite at Sommerro in July, 2026. I highly recommend the hotel.
Strong positives: Cool room despite 87 degree weather. Large, comfortable, and gracious junior suite, with plenty of seating alternatives. Great breakfast. Terrific location, convenient to one of the train stations to go to and from the airport.
Negatives: None, from my standpoint.
Now, the details:
Leading up to the stay, I worried a bit about encountering hot weather in Oslo (given some of the reviews of other hotels the summer before), and so looked around town for hotels that I thought might have air conditioning. I couldn’t find any. I asked Sommerro the specific question, and the answer was that the hotel has a whole-building ventilation system that allows temperature changes off plus or minus 3 degrees celcius. We’ll see what happens, was my reaction.
In fact, we did have hot weather in Oslo for two of our days – the high one day was about 87 degrees F, but, happily, our room was kept at roughly 70 degrees F. That’s more than acceptable. And the room never warmed up more than that. So, hat’s off to the Sommerro system – it worked.
Our junior suite was quite large, with a sitting area and a separate table for dining or computer use. We had a coffee station. The hallways of Sommerro have ice machines, and spigots cold still and sparkling water, with which you can fill bottles available in the room. Nice touch.
The room was equipped with effective blackout curtains, and electrically operated metal window shades, so the room could be completely blackened during the “continuous light” of an Oslo summer night. The curtains and shades also helped, no doubt, the keep the room cool during the day.
The breakfast buffet was outstanding. This is a large hotel, so the breakfast room could get very busy, but we never had an issue with anything running out.
Our bathroom had two sinks, and a separate shower and tub. The shower was great.
The hotel arranged a taxi pickup for us at the airport (we arrived after midnight). Efficiently done (albeit not cheap, but we had no reasonable alternative since we were too late for the airport train).
Service, in the restaurant, with housekeeping, and at the reception desk, was excellent.
On the way back to the airport, we walked two blocks from the hotel to the Henrik Ibsens Gate entrance to the Nationaltheatret station, a very easy process, and took the Flytoget (airport train) from there.
I’d gladly come back to Sommerro.
